KATSINA, 3rd March 2024 – In a collaborative effort led by His Excellency Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda PhD and the Nigeria Automobile Technician Association (NATA), the Katsina State Government is poised to initiate a comprehensive training and empowerment program benefitting 3,000 youths across all 34 local government areas (LGAs). The focus will be on diverse aspects of automobile manufacturing and repair.

The initiative, aimed at curbing unemployment among the youth, was unveiled by Hajiya Aisha Aminu Malumfashi, the Director General of the Katsina State Enterprises Development Agency (KASEDA), during a Youth Summit organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Malumfashi Branch.

Dubbed the 'Mechatronics Apprenticeship Support Program' (MASP), the training will encompass various techniques of automobile repairs, including Mechatronics, Auto-spraying, Automotive Rewiring, Auto Panel Beating, and Auto Computer Diagnosis, among others.

Hajiya Aisha Malumfashi highlighted that the apprenticeship program is designed to run for two years, with participants being attached to experienced mechanics for hands-on learning. The ultimate goal is to produce skilled automobile technicians who will not only be self-reliant but also contribute to job creation within the state.

"It is hoped that after their apprenticeship, the trainees will become professional mechanics who will be self-reliant, while also providing jobs for others," stated KASEDA, emphasizing the long-term impact of the program on the economic landscape of Katsina State.
